Q & A with Gareth

What do you do at Konichiwa? I’m a content creator and I specialise in audio content and making podcasts Why do you love working with independently minded businesses? What i love about them is that freedom of expression and that attitude of being who they want to be. What comes across with these types of businesses is a passion for what they do, it’s very real and human, and as a content creator that makes for great stories to tell. What inspires you? Above all else, real life and real stories. I enjoy researching and talking to people and whether I’m talking to a business founder, a supplier or a customer, they all have their own stories to tell and that’s where inspiration and ideas come from. What do you do when you're not working at Konichiwa? I make podcasts for brands as well as creating content for startups. When i’m not working music and food are my biggest passion, not necessarily at the same time though, eating at a gig or a club is just weird. What tips would you give businesses when it comes to audio and podcasts? Audio and specifically podcast is a way of telling the stories that matter to you and your business in an intimate and engaging way. The best podcasts are those which have a niche and are super focused, try not to be too broad with your topic, the more specific the better. With audio you’re lucky to generally have your listener’s full undivided attention, maybe they’re on their commute, listening whilst they cook, or relaxing at home. Which brings me on to what I think it’s the most important piece of advice, your podcast should not speak to a collective group of people but to one listener, that’s what creates the most engaging listen.
