Sophie is our Creative Director’s right-hand woman (PA) – but that’s not all. She’s also a hugely talented illustrator. Her signature style is to combine hand-drawn work with graphic design in a simple yet striking aesthetic. Never happier than when working with independent-spirited businesses, Sophie loves using eye-catching design to boost the impact of their campaigns.
Q & A with Sophie
What do you do at Konichiwa? I am a Designer and the Assistant to Creative Director. My job involves helping manage the team and help with creative planning for our client work. I also create a lot of the in house imagery and content for Konichiwa and take on design-related projects, such as Illustration, Brand Identity and Packaging Artwork. Why do you love working with independently minded businesses? From personal experience of freelancing and managing my own side hustles, I appreciate the energy that goes into independent business. I love working with innovative minds and being involved in positive change. I feel it is more personal and I genuinely want them to succeed. I carry this passion into my work, and I absolutely enjoy what I do. What inspires you? Surrounding myself with a range of people from all walks of life. Listening to different views, watching strange documentaries and eating delicious food. I like to experiment a lot with my personal work and seem to happiest when I'm constantly creating things! What do you do when you're not working at Konichiwa? Kickboxing, gaming and taking care of my houseplants. What tips would you give businesses when it comes to Design? Come up with a plan on your brand imagery, as it’s so important these days. Establish what it is you’re after and talk things over with the designer if you’re unsure. Listen to the advice given and enjoy the journey of the initial sketch to the final design.
