A NEW SERIES OF INSPIRING MONTHLY EVENTS FOR BRISTOL’S THRIVING START-UP COMMUNITY
It’s no secret that Bristol has established itself as a thriving hub for start-up businesses, and now there’s a new series of monthly social events launching to support and nurture the city’s start-up community. Every month Start-up Stories will feature inspiring talks and Q&As by people within the Bristol start-up community, who will share their personal start-up stories and journeys. There will also be opportunities to talk to, learn from, share and network with like-minded people, whether they’re established, just starting out or aspiring entrepreneurs and new business owners.
Start-up Stories events are hosted by us alongside our social campaign Indies in Bristol. Creative Director Ursula Hutchinson, says: “We’re proud of Bristol’s reputation as a dynamic hub for start-ups and independent business. The aim of these events is to provide a regular platform that supports and connects the city’s vibrant start-up community and bring together the creative, inspiring people that make it what it is.”
Startup Stories #1: Artspace Lifespace
For our first event in the series, we teamed up with Artspace Lifespace, which recycles vacant, under-used and problem properties into thriving creative resources. The meet-up took place last Tuesday 21st March at The Vestibules at City Hall. Nina Ntziora, company manager and Doug Francis, trustee, talked about their fascinating journey, from taking on their first building to growing into a sustainable, self-funded business, sharing great startup tips and advice with all attendees.
Startup Stories #2: Milk Teeth Café & stores
For our second meet-up we are collaborating with Josh Bowker at his new venture, @milkteethportlandsq. Josh will tell us how he managed a successful crowdfunding campaign through Kickstarter to help start his new venture, and his recent journey from crowdfunder to practicalities of setting up a cafe.
Join Start-up Stories #2 Thursday 20th April at 5:30 pm at Milk Teeth Café & Stores, 21 Portland Square, Bristol BS2 8SJ. Pre-paid tickets are £5 each, include drinks and nibbles, and can be purchased via Eventbrite.
