Creative Content Days: Make Your Content Go Further

At Konichiwa we think it’s really important for e-commerce and indie brands to celebrate their content, to highlight the value of creativity when creating engaging communications. As the saying goes – a picture tells a thousand words and decent content or branding speaks volumes over words any day. For that reason, it is well worth investing in.

As we all know, social platforms like Instagram consumes content, so we put together this eye-catching package to bring together a variety of bespoke content, showcasing our teams talent across a day in a fun high-energy co-creation workshop with our clients.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Content

Our creative content days will not only drastically improve your brand’s content, but will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of what goes on in the making of product photography behind-the-scenes. They are super fun, as we bring a small team of hand-picked creatives from different backgrounds to turn your goals into a reality. Throughout the day, we create as much content as possible for you to use all over your social media. From a client point of view – you can be as involved as you wish. Some of our clients have been very hands on and like to be part of every stage of the content creation (sometimes we even use them as models in their own shoots!). Other clients like to sit back and relax, watching us stylise their products in ways they had never previously considered. However you would like to approach these content days is completely up to you and we work around your vision.

Here are a few of our top tips that we like to bear in mind when creating content for our clients:

  • Consider your brand identity and how you can bring this to life in your feed.
  • Plan a mood board ahead to make sure you can keep your shoot focused and plan for the right backdrops, lighting and props.
  •  Think about what platform you are shooting for. Eg. You will want it square for Instagram and full width for a hero banner on a website.

The Importance of Videos and GIFS

Let’s talk about the importance of GIFS, motion graphics and videos on social media feeds, specifically on Instagram. We often encourage our clients to focus on two primary social media platforms that are most relevant to their industry. For example, a business-to-business brand should probably be focusing on LinkedIn, whereas a business that creates open conversations between middle aged women would need to focus more on Facebook. The common media site that all our clients use is, without a doubt, Instagram.

This platform allows you to create a page that is all about your brand. It then has additional features that helps you show off your brand’s assets in a variety of different ways. In recent years, Instagram has been introducing video and moving image content. Here are some statistics to let you know how important instagram video content is.

  • Top publishers are ramping up Instagram video posts by 90-100% each year.

  • Sponsored Instagram videos generate 3x more comments than sponsored Instagram photos.

  • 5 million videos were posted within 24 hours of the launch of Instagram Video.

To stay competitive, video Instagram content is crucial. This is why we not only focus on photography but create shareable videos, GIFS and short animations during our creative content days. There are endless possibilities with GIFS and these short videos allow you to show off a different side to your product that just doesn’t come across as well in a static photograph.

Creative Content Day Process

The creative content day process actually starts a few weeks ahead of the day. We make sure we have enough time to really understand what creative direction you are wanted to go in. We listen to your vision then create photography mood boards, styling mood boards and Instagram integration mood boards to make sure we are fully prepared for the shoot day. The weeks of prep means that on the day, we can get straight to creating content because all the decision making has been done beforehand!

On the day, our creative team will arrive first and make sure everything is set up so we are ready to go when you arrive. The creative team usually consists of three people: a photographer – hand chosen for your brand’s style, a stylist – someone who oversees the day and the creative direction of the shoot, and lastly, an assistant – someone to support the stylist and photographer whilst offering their own creative opinion. Depending on the type of shoot, the team may vary but we always stick to a small team that works well together.

We start simple by making sure we have all the basic white-cut images for shopping platforms and your website. These tend to be plain background shots with just your product. Once we have got all those shots out the way, we can start visualising your brand story through the photography. This is a really good way to get your consumers to envision how your product will fit into their lives. For example, if it is kitchen ware that you make – we will get action shots of it being used in the kitchen. These stylised shots are great for your Instagram feed and will completely transform the user experience.

At the end of the day, we will give you a rough time frame of when you can expect the edited photographs, GIFS and videos to be sent to you. We will also send you some behind-the-scenes images for you to do whatever you like with.

After the creative content day, our creative team head back to the studio and start processing all your new and amazing content!
